SingVax is developing a Chikungunya vaccine in order to address this unmet medical need. The vaccine, originally developed by the US military, the vaccine has undergone successful phase II trials under an IND where it was shown to be both safe and efficacious. SingVax plans to further develop the vaccine in order to achieve global licensure.

At present, there is no licensed vaccine available. During infection, treatment is essentially based on palliative care. There exists a significant market opportunity for a Chikungunya vaccine.
